Irene Serra
Born in Milan, Italy, Irene moved to
Denmark at the age of 3. Since a very young age, she
developed her love for singing whilst performing in choirs,
musicals and churches. Her very first professional
engagement was as the lead singer of the Unicef chior in
Copenhagen at the age of nine. After moving back to Milan,
she started studying Jazz at the age of 16 with the
renowned Italian Jazz singer, Tiziana Ghiglioni, at the
Academy of Music in Milan. She moved to London in 1999 to
complete a BA in Performing Arts at the University of
Surrey. She afterwards went on to complete a diploma in
Musical Theatre at the Mountview Conservatoire for the
Performing Arts. She currently holds a Grade 8 voice in
Classical Music and is studying towards a BMus at
Goldsmiths college. Irene has studied with many renowned
musicians such as tenor Michael Goldthorpe, pianist Tim
Richards, and award winning Musical Theatre performers such
as Ian Barr and Paul Baker. She has performed various
styles of music ranging from jazz, blues, gospel and soul
in venues around London such as The Trafalgar, Soho
Pizzeria, the Jewel Bar, the Pitcher and Piano, Café 1001,
the Rayners Lane Hotel, The Bedford, The Amphitheatre at
Paddington Central, The Old Cock Inn in Harpenden and
The Dorchester and has worked as a session singer and house
music vocalist in Ibiza , Italy and the UK. Irene has also
worked as a professional actress and TV presenter for
companies such as Sky Digital and the BBC and is a member
of the Musicians Union, Equity and The Spotlight.
